Meet The Characters - Endymion
Meet Endymion Ilan Amor. Prince of Sidrea. He is fifth in line, behind the Current King, his three cousins, and his father for the throne. He enjoys music, not that he'd admit it right away, and likes cars. Though he loves his cousin, heir to the throne, Aldis, Endymion wants to be away from the Kingdom of Sidrea. Endymion lost his mother at an early age and at that time, his father threw himself into his work and was often gone, leaving Endymion to be raised by his Uncle, th

Fans, Sales, and Dragons!
If you remember last weekend I discussed our outdoor event (from the pervious weekend) that ended in a loss of product. (The risks of outdoor events). Because of that I was unsure about attending the next event (last weekend). Yes, it was indoors, but I didn't have a ton of product and there would be no time to have more shipped in time. But, I told them I was going to be there, so I was going. Last weekend's event was an Adult Book Faire (Fantasy Edition) that took place in

The Risks of Outdoor Events
Last weekend I set up my canopy in Lapeer for the M-24 garage sale. We (my two fellow authors and I) were in a prime spot right off the road easy to spot! Foot traffic was wonderful! Like any outdoor event, we were monitoring the weather. It was mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain in the early afternoon. As the early afternoon rolled in, we checked updated weather often. Still only a 15% chance of light rain. On either side of our canopies there were other people who w

L.J. Smith - Book Review
If you've been here for awhile then you remember when I was in high school I made a website called CALNVAK. The L in CALNVAK stood for L. J. Smith. Many of you probably know her for her series, The Vampire Diaries. Though I enjoyed the books (and the first season of the TV series) it wasn't my favorite series by her. Her first two books - The Wildworld Series was a good series, though not my favorite. The next series - The Vampire Diaries was the set that sparked a TV series,

Publishing Update - Theirs and Where Will You Go
The goal for this year was to publish two novels, Theirs and Where Will You Go. At this moment I am still working on both, but I have hit a bit of a dry spell and thus... haven't really been writing. I am doing edits and updates for a special edition but nothing new has been written in sometime (at least nothing more than a paragraph or two). So sadly... it's a possibility that only one, or neither, of them will be out this year. With that said, I am still aiming to get one i

Fourth of July!
Happy Fourth of July! For my American readers this is a day of American independence and freedom. If you are familiar with the series though, you'd be aware that independence and freedom aren't always available. Because of this in the series Ruins of War. Fourth of July isn't celebrated the same as it is today. Even in the human states. Fireworks cost more than most can afford. The other states owned by the supernaturals celebrate their own holidays of freedom and independenc

Ten More Things You (Maybe) Didn't Know
If you read the first installment of this you may know a little more about me, but here are ten more things you (maybe) didn't know about me. Ten: I played volleyball in high school. I wasn't a very sporty person, but my friend joined volleyball and I liked the game well enough so I joined as well. I was part of the team for... maybe a month, not even a full season. I didn't like the game when it was higher stakes. Nine: I was in a play in high school. I loved theater and my

Timeline
So a long time ago, I started a series called Secrets of Darkness. As the stories and world grew I began plotting out a sub-set of stories which I titled Before the Darkness. Many years later, I wrote a set of stories that took place in the future in the same world in which I named Ruins of War. From there another set of novels taking place even further from then took shape which I named Slaves of Peace. Because the world became so big I had to make a few timelines to keep im

What's on your nightstand?
So at the last update! I was reading Fourth Wing and then I read Iron Flame. After that I read a romance that was... it was interesting to say the least (and not one I plan to read book two for). The story felt like I was going in circles.... I want her and need to be with her but I have trauma and need help. I want him even if he's a stranger and need to be with him. I'm going to be with you now. Ok. No wait I can't! Then don't come back. Uncle I need help! I can help you! N

100th Blog!
Hello!! Happy 100th blog post!! When I first made this website in 2023 I posted a blog about my youngest daughter's writing. After that I didn't update again for a few months as I wasn't sure what I was going to post. Once I made that second post there was another rather long gap before I finally got the idea for a series of blogs. From there I have been posting a blog every Saturday at Noon (EST). This is my 100th blog post! It has been a long road and sometimes it doesn't f

Who's your favorite child?
When you have more than one child there is always that question that suddenly goes around. "Who's your favorite child?" As a parent you can't pick a favorite as each child is unique in their own way. I have two children and I always tell them, "Ah. You're my favorite oldest child." "Yup, you are my favorite youngest child." They are both amazing in their own ways. As an author you also have "children" as each character you create is like your child. I love each of my characte

Cover Reveal - Where Will You Go
Here is the moment you have all been waiting for.... The Cover for my novel - Where Will You Go . I am excited for this cover. I wasn't sure how to design it or what to do with it, but the cover designer, JDV Covers, worked hard to get me what I wanted! I told her I wanted red and blue, with an ice theme and of course... it had to showcase Ace (the main character.) What she gave me was beautiful and gave all I asked for! If you are in need of a cover, or interior design I'd s

Impacts of Trauma in the Growing Mind
Welcome to another lesson on trauma. Trauma can effect development in the growing mind of a child. Impacts of trauma will vary based on a number of factors, such as: the child's age and developmental stage, their temperament, their resilience, how the child perceived the danger, their past experience with trauma, the support they get after the trauma, and other factors. But here is a loose guide on how trauma can impact the growing mind based on the age of the child when the

Fourth Wing - Book Review
For my work Secret Santa I received a copy of Fourth Wing. Oddly enough it is one that I had not read before. I love dragons so I'm not sure how I missed this one... but I was excited to dive in. It didn't take long for me to get pulled into the book. After the first chapter I was already yelling at the characters and the author. If you haven't read the book I won't spoil it (Go read it though!) but the book is about a girl who is frail (bruises and breaks bones easily) who a

The Song That Started It All
Back in 2005, out of high school and just getting into college, I started my first novel - Where Will You Go - At the time I had a character (which turned into a billion characters) and a concept. No title, no clue what I was going to even call it or how it was going to turn out. One day while writing I heard a song by Evanescence. It was called Where Will You Go. It was a beautiful song, haunting and fit the theme of the novel perfectly. I listened to it over and over and lo

Fan Art - Part Three
Back in the mid-2000 I collected fan art for my first novel, not my first published at this point, but it was supposed to be before some character decided to be stubborn, Where Will You Go. I am in the process of writing it and hoping to have it published sometime this year. But if you'd like a sneak peak... Let me show you some early fan art! :) This is for Ace (One of the main characters) - The first few are concept art as I tried to figure out what I wanted him to look li

Happy Easter!
With Easter comes the start of Spring! Unless you live in Michigan where the weather really can't make up it's mind for anything... like a couple weeks ago, we had 70 weather on Monday and by Friday it was 20 with 4 inches of snow (FEET in some parts of Michigan). Why is everyone sick? Well... speak to month nature. In our home the kids are older so Easter is not as huge a deal. This year we celebrated early with family and younger cousins. My youngest (10) colored some reall

What's going on?
I hope all of you are doing well! In the last few weeks I have not been feeling the greatest and inspiration hasn't really been with me to write. I've opened the document a few times, wrote one or two paragraphs and hit a block. I dislike when this happens because it always feels so hard to get back into it. I am working on a writing schedule that I hope will allow me a chance to bring up speed again. In the mean time I am looking at events for this year to attend. I have one
