Who's your favorite child?

When you have more than one child there is always that question that suddenly goes around. "Who's your favorite child?" As a parent you can't pick a favorite as each child is unique in their own way. I have two children and I always tell them, "Ah. You're my favorite oldest child." "Yup, you are my favorite youngest child." They are both amazing in their own ways.

As an author you also have "children" as each character you create is like your child. I love each of my characters in their own way but unlike with my real children... I do have a couple "children" I love a little more than others, for personal reasons.

So, in no particular order... here are a couple of my favorite children.

Ace - Drawn By Zarsh

Ace -

I know you have heard me talk about Ace a lot recently because I am currently working on his story (again... it's been over 11 years in the making). I love Ace for a few reasons. He is only 15 and yet has had to grow up a lot faster than any child should. Even when he doesn't fully understand something, he is still willing to stand up for what he feels is right. He is one of my first characters and though him and his story have both given me a ton of issues in writing... I am excited for him to be finally shared with others.

Salem - Drawn By Kitsunedajfox

Salem -

Salem is probably my first character that I fully fleshed out. Starting out he was a power house and to some degree he still is, but after many years he's been fleshed out to be a well rounded character. Salem went through the Salem Witch Trails and though he often projects himself as someone who you shouldn't approach. He has a soft side to him. He is a big protector. Able to control storms, Salem is one that was often talked to when I was younger and afraid of sleeping due to bad weather.

Adira - Reference Picture

Adira -

Adira is one of my newer characters. A young woman who spent a long time locked up. Adira is someone who loves dearly and fully. She gives her attention to those speaking to her and makes you feel as if you are the only person in the world. She is an amazing ally to have and a terrifying enemy to make. She is one of my own species, which just makes her all the more amazing.

Mirage - Reference Picture

Mirage -

Mirage is one of my characters who starts off as a bad guy. Unlike some of my characters, Mirage had a pretty good life growing up, but due to the era he lived in, his mental health issues became something that dragged him down. From there his life spiraled from one bad choice to another. Once his story comes out though, you will quickly learn that Mirage has a lot of layers and you can't believe all of the rumors you hear about him.

Lochlan - Drawn By Ayira

Lochlan -

Lochlan is the main character in the other novel I'm currently working on Theirs. Which is the sequel to Mine. At first glance, Lochlan is a spoiled teen who gets everything he wants in life. But there is a lot more to his story. Him, along with his sisters, Genesis and Leta, grew up a lot different from those around them. Lochlan's story is one that has me working hard to express the scale of his life compared to those around him.

So, there you have it. Just some of my favorite "children". Are there more? Of course. Are all of them my favorite? Yes... in some way or another. I hope you will get to meet them all at some point.
