A few years after I joined the writing group, Flint Area Writers, they decided to collaborate and make an anthology. Every member was allowed to submit a story for it. I was excited but also nervous, the genre was fairies and the fae. Though I had spent a lot of time writing fantasy, I'd never touched on fae before. I had an idea for a story at the time, about a girl who lost her memory and was searching for a certain person. The group told me to make that my story for the anthology and find a way to put in the fae. So with some work, and a lot of edits and re-writes... I began.

It was a lot harder than I thought to work on something I knew was going to be published soon. I fought with the idea of just pulling it many times over as edits after edits came in. But I pushed through and after much work from me, the editors, and the fellow writers. My first short story was published.

This was my first publication since my two poems back in high school. I was so excited about it that I ordered a copy for myself and many others to give to friends. looking back at the story, it's not my best written one, but still... I love it and it holds a soft spot in my heart. It made me see that I could publish and with some hard work I could have others enjoying my work.

If you haven't checked it out, pick up a copy for yourself from Amazon, or by me directly.
